Services

Group Classes

Canine Higher Learning offers a variety of classes from beginning to the most advanced.

If you are interested in beginning classes, look for Beginning Manners and Obedience and Intermediate Manners and Obedience. For more advanced classes, we offer a variety of sports and tricks classes.

Please note that we use only the most modern, dog-friendly training methods in our training. If you are interested in sports or other advanced classes, and your dog is not able to work with you on a flat, buckle collar, you should start with a beginning or intermediate training class first.

If your dog is not friendly with other dogs, call us about private training or behavior counseling to prepare your dog for the classroom environment.

Beginning Manners / Obedience
This six-week course is a basic training class. Using the most modern methods based on "how dogs learn", your dog will learn the basics including sit, down, stay, come and how to focus on you in the presence of mild distractions.
Intermediate Manners / Obedience
This six-week course will improve upon the lessons learned in Beginning Manners, and then teach more including Go To Your Place, Settle, Heel, and a new trick every week.
Canine Good Citizen Preparation
The CGC was the first award that was available from the AKC for any and all dogs, regardless of breed (even mixes!). This class will help prepare you and your dog for the 10-item test, which will be administered on the final day of class.
Obedience for Dog Sports
Whether you are considering entering into dog sports, or simply want better control of your dog in high-excitement settings, this course is a great starting point. Designed for the high-drive or young dog, you and your dog will learn tactics for remaining focused in high-distraction environments, as well as a variety of useful tricks and behaviors.
Agility Classes
AKC's most popular dog sport, Agility, involves having dogs run through a complex obstacle course, including jumps, tunnels, weave poles, a teeter totter, and other more. Classes offered at a range of levels, from pet dog classes (non-competitive) to competition.
Flyball
The fastest growing dog sport in the country, Flyball is a 4-dog relay race, where the dogs go over 4 jumps to retrieve a ball from a spring-loaded box, then return over the 4 hurdles as the next dog goes to retrieve another ball. Classes offered at beginning and intermediate levels, with the goal of joining a local team or starting a new team.

Private Training

Does your dog have behavior problems such as reactivity or other challenges not well-suited to a classroom environment? Call us to schedule a private consultation. We can help you and your dog prepare to begin the sport of your choice.

Behavior Counseling

Does your dog have more serious behavior problems such as aggression toward dogs or people, or anxiety-related issues such as separation anxiety? Behavior counseling may be the key. Call us for a consultation.

Children and Dogs
